BIRD IMAGES VIDEO GUIDES
This is the site of my long time friend Paul Doherty, who has produced among the best bird
identification video guides on the market, and was the one person who most inspired me to
migrate from bird still photography to capturing birds on video. Paul's videos are well
produced and well shot. His latest videos on DVD, "Birdwatching in England" and
"Birdwatching in Norfolk" are some of his best work and are must have DVD's, even if it's
just for the scenic content and spectacular bird life shown. Be aware that Paul's work is
produced in PAL format, so even though they won't play properly on North American
NTSC TV's, they will play perfectly on any PC or Mac that has a DVD player.

WELCOME TO THE GULL IDENTIFICATION WEBSITE
Created by Steve Hampton, and supported by many contributors, this site is dedicated
to those rakish scavengers from the north (okay, some are from the south): gulls!
gulls! gulls! This site features images, links to images, and individual species/subspecies
descriptions (limited to the larger "white-headed" species).

Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology
The Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable corporation, is
both a natural history collection specializing in eggs and nests of birds from around the world,
and a research and education institution dedicated to bird conservation. The Foundation's
collections are among the largest in the world, and its mission is to contribute to the
conservation of the world’s wild bird species through the accessibility of the collections
and their data to researchers, educators, students, and the public.

BIRDWATCHING IN GUATEMALA
A small country in Central America, Guatemala stands out at a worldwide level for its
extraordinaire biological diversity, and its wide variety of beautiful landscapes.
A country of only 108,000 km2, it lists over 700 bird species. In a few weeks, a
birdwatcher may identify more than 300 species in a fabulous trip, that goes from
humid cloud forests to desert-like lands, while at the same time having the chance
to visit many of Guatemala's archaeological and cultural legacy sites. Within a
geographic mosaic of 7 main ecosystems, Guatemala holds one of the most interesting
bird assemblages in the world. Take a look at our Guatemala map to discover more
about each of our unique birding regions.

Also, Los Tarrales is one of only a few places in Guatemala where you have a chance to see
Horned Guan and Azure-rumped Tanager, which are among the 310+ species of birds that have
been recorded at Los Tarrales.

Reserve is a site for easy and good birding. Skilled birders can see more than 100 species
on a good day during migration season. A network of trails gives access to a mosaic of

fruit-eaters and hummingbirds are excellent spots to see the birds.

REFUGIO DE LAS AVES
The well known Sam Woods has visited Ángel Paz many times and here is what he
has to say in his blog Lost In Birding: "When a farmer near Mindo (Ángel Paz)
begun inadvertently feeding a strange bird (the rare Giant Antpitta) that hopped
along the trail with him while he was building a new trail, few birders could
have seen the far reaching consequences just a few short years later. He thus
began a trend of antpitta feeding throughout this rich birding country."

ANTPITTA.COM
This is the website of Nick Athanas who lives in Quito, Ecuador, and is a co-founder
of Tropical Birding. Nick is not only a great photographer, but his gallery of Neotropic
birds is one of the largest and most complete that I have ever seen for a single website.
He also has a gallery of birds from countries outside of the Neotropics, which is also
amazing because of, not only the number of contries represented, but the number of
species shown.
